A moderate four-five hour hike in the Connemara National Park from the village of Letterfrack. Going beyond the Diamond Trail into the Glanmore valley, towards the isolated Pooladirk river and the remains of a beautiful settlement below Bulog. Passing ancient pre-bog Scots Pine tree stumps, before visiting a megalithic (court) tomb and a spectacular wood. Terrain includes rough/uneven open hillside (long grass, bog, rock), stone steps, trail, and surfaced minor road. Requires strong boots with good ankle support and outdoor layers (preferably waterproof jacket/trousers, fleece, hat gloves) along with a good level of fitness. Costs €50/person with places currently available. The weather is generally showery with moderate-fresh wind.
