The 3rd Darkness Into Light Clifden Walk / Run will take place on Saturday May 6, 2017. Leaving from Clifden Town Hall at 04.15am following the route up Sky Road, down to Clifden Beach and along Clifden Bay back to the Town hall where there will be refreshments.
The good people of Clifden will watch the sun rise on behalf of Pieta House on May 6th! Surrounded by rugged mountains and breathtaking scenery, the coastal town in the heart of Connemara was the landing spot for Alcock and Vickers after their journey from Newfoundland and Darkness Into Light, although shorter in distance, will be no less significant in importance.

16 Local Connemara “Celebrities” from a variety of groups and organisations have been selected and are going to learn how to sean nós dance in the coming weeks. They will perform on the night and audience voting will take place for each celebrity and the person with the most votes win! Admission is only 5 euros and its 1 euro a vote on the night. All funds raised will go towards Clifden Comhaltas events for 2017.
There will be lots of young sean nos dancers also performing on the night and local groups of young and older musicians will also entertain. So mark your diaries, Saturday 11th March 2017 at 9pm

The 7th edition of the exciting Biking Blitz Series kicks off with events taking place in Wicklow, Limerick, Galway #Connemara and Dublin. The Biking Blitz is a mass start cross country mountain bike event, aimed primarily at beginners but with something for everyone. There are series points up for grabs at each event, with an overall series devised from your best three results from any four events. There are two categories, “Baggy Shorts” for beginners or “Super Pro” for more experienced riders, plus youth categories from U8 to U18. Mountain bike trail centres are used exclusively for these events to ensure a fast flowing course in all weather conditions. So saddle up for the first time or put your training to the test at the 2015 Biking Blitz.
Only Senior riders need to enter online. Youths and Juniors enter on the day of the event.

THE JOURNEY
This is not a race but a journey. Starting just before sunset you will cycle into the darkness. Enjoy the night time quiet while the light from the moon and stars help to guide your way.
THE ROUTE
The start and finishing points for 2017 have changed. You will start out from the Station House Hotel, Clifden, Co Galway. Your route is entirely on sealed roads and will pass through deep valleys, alongside still lakes and rugged coastline. Refreshment stops will be provided along the way.
THE REASON
This is an ideal way to kick-start your cycling for the year or to push you that little bit further. It is also just a wonderful way to spend a moonlit evening in April.
