Étape Connemara Chipped Cycle (TBC)

This is a chip timed cycling sportive on open roads in stunning Connemara, West of Ireland, and will take place on Sunday 21st August 2016.
Challenge yourself, or make it a club challenge. The Étape Connemara is a fun sportive with a competitive edge.
You are against the clock to complete the challenging 100km OR 150km route through Connemara. Many of our riders participate for their own personal challenge. It is also a great opportunity to test you and your club members that you ride with regularly. You can all work together and push yourselves without the pressure of an official race, but you still get an official time! The event is proving to be a popular challenge for riders from all over the country and even overseas.
IT’S ALL FOR CHARITY
The event is organised by Croí, the heart & stroke charity, with all proceeds going back to support the fight against heart disease and stroke in the West. Croí have over 20 years experience in delivering the Annual Lough Corrib Cycle which attracts over 1200 participants each year. The charity is totally funded by its own fundraising initiatives and over the years, the charity has raised over €19 million to reduce the impact of Cardiovascular Disease on families in the west of Ireland.

This event is organised by the award winning CEECC in conjunction with Western Lakes CC – one of the finest clubs in the country. The weekend includes a 90km stage on Saturday 27th & a time trail & 85km stage on the Sunday. This event has been running for the last 7 years & has grown from strength to strength each year. It routes bring you through some of the most stunning areas of scenery that Connemara has to offer inculding Renvyle, Inagh Valley, Maam Valley, Kylemore & more. A great weekend of racing guaranteed!

Biking Blitz at Derroura @ Derroura Mountain Bike Trail

The 7th edition of the exciting Biking Blitz Series kicks off  with events taking place in Wicklow, Limerick, Galway #Connemara and Dublin. The Biking Blitz is a mass start cross country mountain bike event, aimed primarily at beginners but with something for everyone. There are series points up for grabs at each event, with an overall series devised from your best three results from any four events. There are two categories, “Baggy Shorts” for beginners or “Super Pro” for more experienced riders, plus youth categories from U8 to U18. Mountain bike trail centres are used exclusively for these events to ensure a fast flowing course in all weather conditions. So saddle up for the first time or put your training to the test at the 2015 Biking Blitz.

Only Senior riders need to enter online. Youths and Juniors enter on the day of the event.

Super Pro Category- 2 full laps, 32km (1 hour 40mins approximate winning time)

WITH A FULL MOON AS YOUR CHAPERONE CHOOSE FROM 100KM AND 60KM DISTANCES ALONG THIS MAGNIFICENT PART OF THE WILD ATLANTIC WAY.

THE JOURNEY

This is not a race but a journey. Starting just before sunset you will cycle into the darkness. Enjoy the night time quiet while the light from the moon and stars help to guide your way.

THE ROUTE

The start and finishing points for 2017 have changed. You will start out from the Station House Hotel, Clifden, Co Galway. Your route is entirely on sealed roads and will pass through deep valleys, alongside still lakes and rugged coastline. Refreshment stops will be provided along the way.

THE REASON

This is an ideal way to kick-start your cycling for the year or to push you that little bit further. It is also just a wonderful way to spend a moonlit evening in April.
